President Wilson declared his support for the 19th amendment (prohibits any U.S. citizen denied the right to vote,) later that month it was passed by the House. -

After WW1 women's fashion changed do to the decrease of labor required of woman. Because men returned rom war, the women no longer had to work in factories. -

Jazz music influenced the fashion in the 20's do to the new, popular dances and lifestyle aquired by this music. Dances like The Swing became very popular and required lots of movement and so women wanted something they could move freely in. Desses like the "flapper" became very popular because of the loose free style. -
Feminine liberation movement
Women wanted to be free of sex discrimination and desired to be equals to men. Thus, encoraging more boyish trends to be seen. -
Stock market booming
Because of the stock market boom, money was more plentiful. More room to spend on fashion and other things encouraged many lavish parties and fun times, so women wanted something they could be free to dance and have fun in. -

Because of the prohibition, loose clothing was often desired to be worn by women so that they could stash alcohol without knowledge or consent. -

Progression of equal rights for women encouraged womans fashion to become more boyish because women desired to be seen as equals. -

Twenty-six million American women became eligible to vote. Rights were acomplished, and advancing rights of equality were in progress. -

Rayon
"Artificial silk", first made in france from a solution of cellulose, became known as Rayon. Allowed women to wear a seemingly fancy dress that was at a much cheaper price. -

The one hour dress was created so that women could get dressed easier and faster. The dress was to be made in only one hour. -

Women had less money to spend on lavish dresses. Attention to fashion was no more.
