AWSA/NWSA
During the year 1869 both the American Women Suffrage Association and the National Women Suffrage Association were founded. The NWSA was focused on getting women's suffrage on a national level, while the AWSA was focused on getting it on a state-by-state level first. -
Susan B. Anthony V.S. The Law
In 1872 Susan B. Anthony and three of her sisters registered to vote. By doing so they broke the law and were arrested for "knowingly, wrongfully, and unlawfully" voting. She was not given a fair trial, and was not allowed to take it to a higher court. -
Supreme Court Ruling
In 1875 the Supreme Court decided that it was up to the state to decide women to vote. -
