Birth
Winston Churchill was born on November 30, 1874 in the Blenheim Palace in Oxfordshire. He was born into a very prominent and wealthy family as he was a descendent of the Duke of Marlborough. Churchill would go on to fill many important government and military positions such as Prime Minister of England.

Sandhurst Academy
In September of 1893 Winston was finally accepted into Sandhurst Military Academy after failing the entrance exam 2 times. During his time there he did very well, especially with horses. This education lasted 15 months and led him down a military career path and he was soon commissioned in the British Army.

On May 17, 1900 The Wizzard of Ozz was published. The book is an American classic that went on to inspire movies and plays. The book was very popular in America and Europe. -

In October of 1912 Tarzan was published. The book was an American hit. It also had movies based off of it. -
British enter WWI
On August 14, 1914 Britain entered WWI. During WWI Churchill was appointed First Lord of Admiralty, expanding his career. Also Britain had lost many men during the war.

The Soldier written
In 1919 The Soldier was written. It was a poem about the honor in fighting and dying for England in the war. It was very influential to British soldiers in the field and some even kept a copy to read during tough times.

Menin Road published
In February of 1919 the paining Menin Road was published by Paul Nash. It was one of the most iconic depictions of the war painted. The painting was commissioned by the British military and is still kept in a museum today.

Whitehall Cenotaph opened
On November 11, 1920 the Whitehall Cenotaph was opened. It was a monument to the end of. WWI and is in England. It was originally made for the peace parade after the war but was made permanent because people loved it. -
First Lord of Admiralty
On September 3, 1939 Churchill was appointed to the First lord of Admiralty for the second time. While in this position he devised a plan to mine the Baltic Sea to provoke a German attack but it was delayed. This position set him up to become the Prime Minister during WWII.

On May 10, 1940 after the former Prime Minister, Chamberlain resigned Churchill was appointed by the King to take the position. As Prime Minister Churchill led England through the Second World War, not only by directing the military. But he also boosted the morale of many people living through the seemingly endless German bombardment.

Battle of Britain speech
On June 18, 1940 shortly after taking office as Prime Minister Churchill made his infamous Battle of Britain speech. The speech was inspired by the endless German bombardment of the country and the impending attack. This speech inspired many people and from this many found strength. This was easily a defining moment in his career and in the war.

After the bombing of Pearl Harbor the United States officially joined the war on December 7,1941. The U.S. was a major morale boost not to mention the massive amount of forces added to the Allies. The U.S. Joining the war reassured Churchill that the Allies were going to win.

Death
On January 24, 1965 Winston Churchill died following a stroke. He was 90 when he died. Following this England went under national mourning for their beloved leader.
