William Golding's timeline extravaganza.

  • The birth of a god.

    The birth of a god.
William Golding was born in a 14th century house located next to a scenic graveyard. His mom MIldred was a feminist and his dad Alex was a schoolmaster, which i assume is alot like being a pokemon master.
  • College

    College
In 1930 goldings attended Brasenose college, where for two years he studied science out of respect for his dad, but in his third year of college he switched over to a literature class to actually learn to do what he wanted to do... poems.
  • Oddjobs.

    Oddjobs.
Frome 1935 to 1939 Goldings did what anyone would do after graduating college.. he became a social worker to pay his bills and then started working at a theater in a shabby part of London.
  • Teaching

    Teaching
After going to college for a couple years Goldings decided to settle down and begin teaching people litature and philosophy. While I'm not here to pass judgement on the fact that he decided to copy his dad ,but he totally did. This is also ther job that inspired Goldings to write a book about savage little boys, ao i'll let you imagine how good his stufents were.
  • World war 2

    World war 2
After studying in college and being a teacher for a while Goldings did the next logical thing, he joined the Royal Navy. While i wasnt really alive during World War two I personally dont think this is a career decision that i would make, but to each their own i guess. It also wasn't like his whole miltiary career was a failure either, because he was promoted to a lieutenant and commanded his own rocket ship.
  • Lord of the flies is published

Lord of the flies is published
On this day William Goldings finally got his book "Lord of The Flies" which was denied publishing rights twenty one times. Noone can say the man wasnt persistent.
  • The Inheritors was published.

    The Inheritors was published.
This novel was produced only a yar after the lord of the flies ,but didn't quite reach the popularity that Lord of the Flies ever did eevn though it was Goldings personal favorite novel he ever made.
  • Paper Men.

    Paper Men.
Now im'm not here to pass judgement on critics, but isn't it alittle convienient that according to critics Goldings worst novel is the one he wrote about how bad critics were? It just seems alittle suspisious to me.
  • Knighted.

    Knighted.
Apparently this book about savage boys on a desert island is so good that it got William Goldings knighted by the queen of England. Okay maybe his military career helped a little bit.
  • The death of a legend

    The death of a legend
This is a day that will never live in infamy. On this day in 1993 William Golding finaly bit the dust.No man could end his legendary life so his own heart betrayed him and attacked him.
