    On September 19, 1911, Golding was born in Cornwall, England.

    In 1934, a year before he graduated Golding published his first book "Poems." The book was filled with poetry which was largely overlooked by critics.
  • Golding follows his fathers footsteps

    Just a year after he publishes "Poems." In 1935 Golding took a position teaching English and philosophy at Bishop Wordsworth’s School in Salisbury.
  • Golding lays down his life for his country

    In 1940 Golding quit teaching to join the Royal Navy and fight in World War II. This decision would later bolster his writing career.

    In 1945, after World War II had ended, Golding, now a war hero, went back to his true passions, teaching and writing.
