    Golding went to primary school at Marlborough Grammar School; the school his father ran. Inspired to write at the inexperienced age of 12, Golding failed his first attempt at writing a novel. His trouble with writing led him to become a bully, yet he successfully was admitted into Brasenose College at Oxford University.
