William Golding

  • worked as a writer, actor, and producer with a small theater in an unfashionable part of London

  • joined the Royal Navy

  • five years Golding spent in the navy

    From 1940-1945
  • publish first novel "Lord of the Flies"

  • remained in the teaching position

    he stayed a teacher but left in 1961
  • awarded the Nobel Prize for Literature
