He graduated from Brasenose College at Oxford University -
Gets a job to teach at Bishop Wordsworth
In 1935 Golding took a position teaching English and philosophy at Bishop Wordsworth’s School in Salisbury. -
Joins the Navy for WW2
During World War II, he fought battleships at the sinking of the Bismarck, and also fended off submarines and planes. -
Golding goes back to teaching
The war ends 5 years later and he goes back to teaching and writing -
Publishes his first book
Golding finally publishes his 1st book. Took him 21 tries, but he gets it published and it was the well known "Lord of the Flies" -

On June 19, 1993, Golding died of a heart attack in Perranarworthal, Cornwall, dying at age 81.
