Golding was born in Saint Columb Minor, Cornwall, England. -
First Attempt
At age 12, Golding tried to write his first novel but it didn't work out. -
Publishing his first book.
Golding wrote a book of poems called "Poems." This was his first time having anything of his published. -
Inspired.
Took at job at a school teaching English to unruly, young boys. Later in his life he would be inspired by the boys to write "Lord of the Flies." -
WW2
Golding decided to join the Royal Navy during World War 2. He stayed in the navy until 1945. -
Lord of the Flies.
At age 43, Golding published Lord of the Flies. This book is what made him a well known author. The book was also made into a movie in 1990. -
Nobel Prize
Golding received a Nobel Prize in Literature. His novels all showed diversity and universality of myths. -
Death.
Golding died of a heart attack in Perranarworthal, England. He was 81 years old.
