Golding was born on September 19, 1911 in Saint Columb MInor, Cornwall, England. On June 19, 1993 He died of a heart attack in Perranarworthal Cornwall. -
Early Life
He grew up with a good education and when he was 12 years old he attempted to write a novel. He used bullying as an outlet for his anger and he goes on to call his past self a brat. -
Navy in WW2
He spent most of his 6 years in the Navy on a boat, He fought on the battleships. Being in the war really opened up his eyes to seeing how awful humans could be. -
Teaching
After college William went on to become a teacher. He followed his fathers footsteps and began teaching English and Philosophy at Bishop Wordsworth's School in Salisbury. His interaction with young boys there had a big impact on the writing of Lord Of The Flies -
Lord of the Flies
After 21 rejects Golding first novel, Lord of the Flies was accepted. Later there was a film adaptation of the book and at the age of 73 Golding was awarded the 1983 Nobel Prize of Literature.
