    Started Attending Brasenose College at Oxford
    In 1930 William started attending Brasenose at Oxford. He spent 2 years studying science to please his father. After 2 years of studying science William decided to switch to Literature to follow his true passion. After switching majors, William graduated from Brasenose at Oxford in 1935 with a Bachelor of Arts and a diploma in education.
  • Began Teaching at Bishop Wordsworth's School

    Began Teaching at Bishop Wordsworth's School
    He started at Bishop Wordsworth's school in 1939 where he taught English and philosophy. He continued to teach here until 1961 when he deviated from teaching to be a part of the Royal Navy in 1940. After serving 5 years in the Royal Navy he then returned to working at Bishop Wordsworth's School until 1961.

    Before Joining the Royal Navy William was teaching English and philosophy. While he was a part of the Royal Navy he spent 6 years on a boat fighting in World War II. While fighting in the war he fended off submarines and planes, fought off battleships at the sinking of Bismarck, and was in command of a rocket-launching craft.

    He wrote Lord of the Flies after World War II published it in 1954 after 21 total rejections. The book is still very famous today as it was and is a great piece of literature.
