William Golding was born to Madrid a activist and Alex a schoolmaster in the year 1911 in saint columb minor , Cornwall, England. When William was 12 years old, he attempted to write a novel which was unsuccessful . -
The start
In 1934 a year before william graduated he published his first work , which was a poetry book it was largely overlooked by critics. -
Inspiration
In 1935 William got a job to teach English and philosophy at Bishop Wordsworth’s School in Salisbury. The job gave William a experience to teach unruly boys which inspired him to write “ Lord of the Flies” -
Change
In 1940 he took a temporary break from the job to join the royal navy which lead him to fighting in World War Two. During World War II, he fought battleships at the sinking of the Bismarck, and also fended off submarines and planes. When the War ended he went back to teaching -

In 1954 published his first and most acclaimed novel “Lord of the Flies” after getting rejected 21 times . “Lord of the Flies" let loose from constraints of society, brutally turned against each other in the imagined enemy -
The film
in 1963 after Golding retired from his teaching position he started working on film adaption for his novel. Which turned out to be actually successful. -
Awards
Two decades after Golding was awarded the Nobel Prize for his Literature in 1983. The book was very popular and was liked by many peers. In 1988 he was knighted by Queen Elizabeth the Second. -
Love and Death
William spent the last years with his wife Ann Brookfield in their home near Falmouth, Cornwall. He continued writing and they also had 2 children David and Judith. In June of 1993, he died of a heart attack. -
Impact
William had a big impact with his novel Lord of the flies. It became a worldwide novel known and loved by many. Golding will forever be remembered for his great impact on literature.
