William Golding was born on September 11 1911 in Cornwall, London, his mother is Mildred Golding and his father is Alex Golding. His mother was a supporter of womens sufferage in England and his father was a school teacher. -
College Education
William went to Oxford in 1930 were he studied science for the first two years. He later switched to the literature program his third year at Oxford. -
Publication
In his last year of attending Oxford he published a book of poetry which was overlooked by many critics. his book of poetry was published as part of Macmillan's Contemporary Poets series. -
Graduation
In 1935 william graduated with a bacholers degree of arts in english as well as a diploma in education. -
Career
In 1935 through 1939 William Golding worked as an actoe, writer, and producer. At the end of 1939 he was teaching english and philosophy at Bishop Wordsworth's School. -
World War 2
when world war 2 started william was working as a teacher but stopped to join the royal navy where he served for 5 years. After his service he returned to his teahing job until 1961. -
Lord of the flies
His first novel, lord of the flies was published in 1954. this novel reseaved 21 rejections before it got published, is tells the story of the savage side of human nature as the boys when taken out of the norms of society. -
Nobel Peace Prize
In 1983 William won the nobel peace prize for literature. He was awarded it with "perspicuity of realistic narrative art and the diversity and universality of myth, illuminate the human condition in the world of today". -

William Golding died June 19, 1993 at the age of 82 years old in Cornwell, London. He died having written a poetry book, dramas, and several novels that are still read till this day. his completed manuscript for The Double Tongue was published after his death.
