  • Color magnets

    Color magnets
when I was around the age of 4 I would take a bag of colored magnet letters and numbers and I would put them all around my back door trying to make words and match colors.
  • Raz kids

    Raz kids
When all students were in elementary school and intermediate school there were many games that we would get online and play while we were in school. I remember going to class and the teacher telling everyone that we were going to the computer lab, everyone would get very excited because they knew we would be able to play games on the computers. We would get on raz kids most days and do one or even sometimes a few books while we were in there and then we could create more characters.

    Mother Daughter relationship
When I was young I would struggle with focusing on reading books, so one day when my mom was out she bought me a book series called "Cupcake Diaries" . She would read these with me every night and it really helped me to become more focused when I read and learn to enjoy it more.
  • First real series book

    First real series book
When I was in 5th grade i finished my full first series of books. I read all of the Diary of a Wimpy kid books. When i started the school year i told myself that I wanted to finish all of the books in the series and it stuck as one of my personal goals. The summer after that school year i had a few left so i sat down and read them during the summer days where i had nothing to do.
  • Cursive

    Cursive
Before school ended most of the English teachers gave out cursive packets so students could try and learn over the summer. This helped because before this no teacher had taught cursive writing.
  • Summer reading book

    Summer reading book
The summer going into 6th grade, there was a summer assignment for all students to choose one of the books given on a list and read it before school started. I read a book called "The one and only Ivan" it opened my eyes to the idea that there are books out there that I would like to read. When we got back to school we had groups and talked about the book and it helped to hear what others thought about the book.
  • First Honors class

    First Honors class
In the 8th grade year I was placed into an ACL English class and i met the best teacher I could have asked for. She interacted with us, made lessons fun, taught us about a lot of creative writers, and over all made sure that we knew exactly what we were doing. She was super nice and made the class do things out of our comfort zone but overall made us all better writers and readers while still having a good time. this was one of the classes i didn't mind going to everyday.
  • Covid break

After covid broke out and we were all sent home we had to do a lot of reading because most teachers schedules were all ruined by us not being in school. We started doing assignments on ICEE in history because this is what he knew we would be able to do even though the whole world had been flipped upside down. These helped me become a better writer because it taught us the right way to persuade people in our writing.
