    Galveston, Texas was hit with a hurricane at 135pmh winds and killing at least 8,000 people. The times were different then so they did not have a way of scaling the size of it but according to Saffir-Simpson today, the hurricane was a category 4.

    In 1903, the U.S and Panama came to agreement and signed a treaty giving the United States right to a zone of the Panama Canal providing them with new opportunities of trade and transportation.

    Although World War I started in 1914, President Woodrow Wilson announced that the U.S would stay a neutral party in the European war. The Zimmerman telegram was sent to the U.S stating Germany's plan to acquire Mexico as an ally, so the U.S entered into World War I declaring war on Germany in April 1917 then on Austria-Hungary in December 1917. The war came to a halt in November of 1918 when the Armistice was signed. The Treaty of Versailles is signed, ending World War I in 1919.

    Congress passed this amendment in June of 1919 and it was ratified on August 1920. The 19th amendment gave women the right to legally vote and can also be known as the Susan B. Anthony amendment because she was one of the biggest advocators for women's suffrage.

    World War II started in 1939 creating a global war until 1945, in which the United States stayed neutral until Japan bombed Pearl Harbor in December of 1941. That lead to the U.S declaring war on Japan just one day later. Germany and Italy then proceeded to declare war on the United states, so the United states reciprocated that back. This action brought together the land, air and sea forces of the allied armies in the Invasion of Normandy, also know as D-Day.

    In these years, Racial Segregation was at one of its highest boiling points because there were many civil rights activists speaking up for the rights of black men and woman, such as Martin Luther King Jr. In May of 1954, racial segregation in public schools is declared unconstitutional by the United States Supreme Court in Brown vs. the Board of Education. The court found that segregating schools contradicted the 14th amendment where it speaks about equal protection.

    During a parade in Dallas, Texas, President John F. Kennedy was assassinated by Lee Harvey Oswald who was known to be practicing Marxism. Two days later, Oswald was murdered on live television by Jack Ruby who also did not make it to trial because of an illness. Vice President Lyndon B. Johnson was sworn in on the same day. President JFK was a very accomplished and loved president. For example, he signed the treaty prohibiting nuclear testing on the ground, in the atmosphere, or underwater.

    President Richard Nixon was the first president to resign as president. The president resigned because he found himself having the possibility of being impeached for being connected to the Watergate Scandal. This scandal was a big deal because there was a burglary in the opposing democratic committee in the Watergate complex and the burglars were apart of Nixon's reelection party. They were caught steal documents and wiretapping phones. Vice President Gerald R. Ford replaced him.

    These attacks were caused by Osama bin Laden’s Islamic extremists group, the al Qaeda organization because of the U.S support of Israel and their involvement in the Persian war. These attacks were carried out by the al Qaeda hijacking four American airplanes which were crashed into the Twin Towers of the World Trade Center, the Pentagon in Washington, D.C, and into a field in Shanksville, Pennsylvania which was intended to hit the White House. These attacks killed at least 3,000 people.
