what have you learnt about technologies from the process of constructing this product

  • MAC Computers

    MAC Computers
One of the main advantages I had was being able to use an apple computer as I have had experience creating magazines with these from two years previous. I still found them occasionally different to use as they are not like the ordinary windows computers I use at home, sometimes this slowed me down but after a few weeks of constant cont.

use I got used to the technicalities I wouldn't expect on a windows computer quickly. I used the MAC computers to enable me to use PhotoShop, where I editied photos (cropping, removing backgrounds, filters etc.) where the process of my maagazine took place (where I used different tools, features, blending options to complete my magazin pages)

Through the process of creating my media product, I discovered many different programs which enabled me to create and evaluate my media product. The programs I used were...

  • Safari

    Safari
I used Safari to enable me to do research for my planning stage. I was able to use this easily as I had used this many times before and I had no problems or issues using it. I used this to do research like find images, collect information, find examples, to find images of well known music magazines of different genres.
  • Adobe PhotoShop

    Adobe PhotoShop
On the beginning of the course the first program I used was Photoshop. Although I had experience in this program I have still developed greatly since the first tasks leading up to the creation of my magazine. To learn more about photoshop, we first created a school magazine to help us know what the conventions that need to be created are, the layout and how we are to create this using Photoshop. I started experimenting by using simple tools such as the lasso tool, the magic wand, cont.

paint bucket and text tool. I soon learnt how to remove the backgrounds off pictures, crop images, add text etc. I later went on to learn more complex things that would be vital for my magazine creation such as using blending options, using filters, cloning tool etc. Overall the program was extremely useful in the creation of my magazine by providing me with the necessary tools to enable me to make my magazine look professional.
  • Mini Mac Server

    Mini Mac Server
This program enabled me to put all my coursework on a blog which could be marked easily. This was hard to understand at first as I kept uploading the work wrong so which it couldn't be viewed. I soon learnt what I was doing wrong and how to upload them correctly. This was simple once I overcame my mistakes and knew how to work it.
  • InDesign

    InDesign
I briefly used this program to create my magazine. I found it very different from Photoshop and wasn't used to creating with it. I attempted to make a first draft on this program but later decided to continue using Photoshop as I was more experienced with it.
  • Scanner

    Scanner
I had to use the scanner to enable me to put my sketches on digital format. I had to do this because this would enable me to put these images on my coursework blog. The scanner was fairly simple to use, I have had experience with them before so I had a good idea how they worked.
  • Digital SLR Camera

    Digital SLR Camera
I used the camera to take all the images I needed for my front cover, double page and contents page. One of the main attributes of the camera was that it was digital so I could instantly see the image I had taken, put it straight onto the computer and transport it with me. The camera had lots of memory space to I was easily able to take another picture if the first was unsuccessful. I learnt how to use different settings on this camera, how to focus, framing, zooming, exposure, shutter cont.
  • Microsoft Word

    Microsoft Word
I had to use microsoft word to enable me to type up my answers and correct any mistakes I had done and correct them. This was an extremely easy program to use as I have had experience with it.
  • Microsoft PowerPoint

    Microsoft PowerPoint
I had to use PP to make a presentation on one of my evaluation questions. It was extremely easy to use as I have had experience and is a simple program to work. I learnt how to create my slides with different transitions.
  • Prezi

    Prezi
I used prezi for one of my evaluation questions. At first I assumed it would be like PowerPoint but it was different in how it was set out and I feel you had more freedom to be creative. I learnt how to use this program (that I had not used before) and how to use it effectively when creating a presentation. This was an easy program once I knew how to work it.
