Springfield Baptist Church was Established
After the Revolutionary War, many ministers and priests left America and went back to England which gave the people more freedom to practice their own religion. So this caused more churches such as the Southern Baptist to be built by free blacks in Augusta. -

The First African Baptist church was yet another church that was built after the Revolutionary War. It was led by Andrew Bryan. -
Cotton Gin was Invented
The cotton gin was invented by Eli Whitney who got the idea after visiting a plantation and seeing how long it took to take the seeds out of cotton. -
Louisville Capitol was Constructed
Georgia had decided to change the capitol yet again in 1796 once most of the population began to move inland. So Louisville was constructed and was supposed to serve as Georgia's capitol. It was also named after King Louis XVI of France because he helped the patriots in the Revolutionary War. -
Holy Fire of Heaven Occured
After the Yazoo Act was signed, a scandal broke out. Land companies had paid off The General Assembly so they could get more land. So in protest, citizens went into the capitol building and burnt the Yazoo Act. -
First Roman Catholic Church was Established
The First Roman Catholic was established in Georgia after the Revolutionary War because the people had more freedom in religion and began to practice differnent religions. -
Classes began at University of Georgia
The University of Georgia began classes in 1801 and only allowed white men to attend class. -
Vote held to make Milledgeville the capitol
As more settlers began to move west, Georgia's citizens thought it would be a good idea to move the capitol yet again. So a vote was held to make Milledgeville the new capitol. -
Gold Found in Dahlonega
Gold was found in Dahlonega by a farmer named Benjamin Parks who found the gold while deer hunting. In an area close to where the orginal gold was found, the first gold mining center in the United States was built. -
Law passed to refuse Indians gold right
Soon after gold was found, laws were passed that stripped away Cherokee Indians rights. One of the laws stated that Cherokee Indians could not have any gold in the Dahlonega area. These laws caused Indians to lose their rights and their homes. -
Western and Atlantic railroad was Chartered
The two railroads were both apart of the Boston and Ohio Railroads which started out with 13 miles of track and ended with 3,300 miles of track. The Western and Atlantic Rails ran though present day Chattanooga. -
Southern Baptist Convention was Held
The Southern Baptist Convention was held when some members of baptists churches wanted to leave their churches when slaveowners weren't allowed to become missionaries. -
Women Began Attending Classes at UGA
Women did not start gaining rights until the ealry 1900s. So University of Georgia began to allow white women to attend school and not just white men.
