Northwest Oridance of 1787
It happened because the congress had to enact something where there could be people settling in the Northwest territory and creating a policy for the addition of new state'sl It happened in the Northwestern part of the United States. It relates to the Westward expansion because if we didn't enace the oridance we wouldn't have the Northwest part of the United States. -
Louisiana Purchase
The Americans though that Napoleon might withdrawl the offer at any time, which would prevent the United States from buying New Orleans, but they finally agreed and signed Louisiana Purchase. The Louisiana Purchase happened in the midwest and New Orleans part of the United Statesl. It relates to the Westward Expansion because if we didn't purchase all of the land we wouldn't have had any way to trade up and down the Mississippi River. -
War of 1812 (in connection to westward expansion)
It happened because the British made trade restrictions becasue of the British war with France the impressment of US merchant sailors into the Royal Navy, British support for Native American tribes against European American expansion. It happened in the United States. it relates to the Westward expansion because after the war we won Louisiania in New Orleans. -
Eerie Canal
It was built to create a navigable water route from New York and the Alantic Ocean to the Great Lakes. It happened in New York from buffalo on the Hudson RIver to the Great Lakes. It relates to the Westward expansion becasue it gave us a route to get from New York to the Great Lskes. -
Missouri Compromise
Because, it was an effort to balanance power between slave and free states. It happened in Missouri and Maine. It relates to the Westward expansion because it helped balance the power between slave and free states and helped add more states near the westward area of the United States. -
Trail of Tears
It happened because Andrew Jackson was against indians and it was part of the Indian removal act where the Cherokees were forced to give up there land east of the Mississippi River and forced to move to now modern day Oklahoma. It happened east of the Mississippi River. -
Annexation of Texas
It happened becasue, the Mexicans were threatining to declare war on the United States over Tesas and then we declared war on the Mexicans and they didn't take it seriously so we annexed Texas. It happened in the Republic of Texas and the United States. It relates to the Westward Expansion becasue if we didn't annex and declare war against the Mexicans and the Republic of Texis we wouldn't have that big piece of land -
Mormon Movement
It happened because they wanted to migrate near the Salt Lake Valley now known as Utah. It happend in the Salt Lake Valley area now known as Utah. It relates to the Westward expansion because during the movement we got more land west of the Mississippi River. -
California Gold Rush
It happened becasue a man by the name of James W. Marshall found a gold nugget in the American RIver and the news got out about him finding the gold nugget and thousands of immigrants came to Califronia to look for the same thing. It happened in California. It relates to the Westward Expansion because if James W. Marshall didn't find that gold nugget Califronia probably wouldn't be a state. -
Treaty of Guadalupe Hidalgo
It happened because the United States and Mexico wanted to make a peace treaty to settle the conflicts against each other. It happened in the United States and Mexico. It relates to the Westward expansion becasue it gave us and opportunity to get more land in the Westward area of the United States. -
Gadsden Purchase
It happened so that the United States could gain a small portion of land from Mexico which is now Arizona and New Mexico. It happened in the United States and Mexico. It relates to Westward Expansion because if not we wouldn't that part of land from Mexico. -
Kansas-Nebraska Act
It happened because they wanted to wether or not to allow slavery in their borders. It happened in Kansas and Nebraska. It relates to the Westward expansion becasue it gave us more states west of the Mississippi River. -

It happened because the Spanish sunk the USS Maine while it was in Cuba protecting U.S citizens. It happened in the Phillipines, Cuba. Puerto RIco, Guam, Caribbean Sea, and Asia-Pacific.
