  • Nat Turners Rebellion

    Nat Turners Rebellion
    Nat Turner was an African American slave who lived in Virginia. He lead a rebellion with 5 other people. They secured weapons and horses. They also convinced 75 other slaves to join them. After the rebellion was over they ended up killing 55 white people. Nat ran off and was able to stay hidden for 6 weeks before he was caught and hung in Jerusalem, Virginia.
  • Black Hawk War

    Black Hawk War
    While more and more people moved west into black hawks territory the US army started to build forts in the area. Because of a treaty made in 1816 that would force the black hawks people to leave when their land was needed. This made black hawks upset because he didn’t understand that he would have to leave so they engaged in war with the US. The US won the war and drove the black hawk people west across the Mississippi.
  • Texas Revolution

    Texas Revolution
    People were moving to Texas and they were unhappy with their representation in government and the fact that Mexico had outlawed slavery. So they decided to rebel and declare independence. The Texans ended up winning the war and Mexico was forced to recognize Texas’ independice. Then in 1845 Texas was admitted to the union.
  • The Second Seminole War

    The Second Seminole War
    When the Indian removal act was signed the Seminoles signed a treaty that gave them 3 years to move west of the Mississippi if the land was seen as fit. A group of seminoles visited the land and said that it was fine and they signed a treaty affirming that they saw the land as fit. They later denied they saying that and the government started a forceful removal. The seminoles fought the government for 7 years. At the end 3-4 thousand Seminole’s were relocated west of the Mississippi.
  • Missouri Morman War

    Missouri Morman War
    Joseph smith had brought his religious group the Mormons from New York all the way to North West Missouri. Tensions built between the Missourians and the Mormons and the Mormons had to move from county to county to avoid conflict. Finally it all came to a boil and Missouri and the Mormons stared to fight Missouri even passed a law that ordered the killing of all Mormons.
  • Milwaukee Bridge War

    Milwaukee Bridge War
    Two founders founded Milwaukee one Byron Kilbourn who established Kilbourn town on the west side of the Milwaukee river. Another Solomon Juneau established Juneau town east of the river. There was competition for year between the 2 sides and when a bridge was built between them there was arguments on who would pay for and maintain it. The west spiders finally had an enough and removed the bridge. This caused many street fights and the bridge had to be rebuild under armed guard.
  • Mexican American War

    Mexican American War
    Americans became more and more interested in having land from sea to sea to make the possible the US government was interested in purchasing land from Mexico. When Mexico decline the US sent an army unit across the median border and when the median soldiers fired at the US army the US declared war on Mexico. Mexico lost the war and the US was able to by the land they wanted for half price.
  • Battle of Buena Vista

    Battle of Buena Vista
    This was a battle in one of Mexico's northern provinces the Americans under general Zachary Taylor had 5,000 troops. They beat Mexicos much larger army that had 15,000 troops. The battle was on George Washingtons Birthday which gave the Americans extra motivation to win. Santa Anna withdrew his forces allowing the Americans to move further south.
  • The Bleeding of Kansas

    The Bleeding of Kansas
    After the Kansas- Nebraska act was passed Kansas became a territory that had to decide wether slavery should be allowed in the territory. Both pro and anti slave activists came to Kansas. There was then repeated outbreaks of guerrilla warfare. From 1855 to 1859 55 people were killed in the fight.
  • Rouge River War

    Rouge River War
    When the Gold rush came to Oregon the relationship between the settlers and the Native Americans went from peaceful to tense the settlers wanted to harvest the resources off the Rouge River people. So a militia came and attacked the Rouge River people in an attempt to get them off their land. The Native Americans lost and were forced into a reservation 100miles north of their original territory. 235-267 native Americans were killed and 50 Steelers and solders were killed.
