    Daniel Boone is one of the most widely known American frontiersmen. Boone’s fame stems from his exploits during the exploration and settlement of Kentucky. He first arrived in the future state in 1767 and spent the better part of the next 30 years exploring and settling the lands of Kentucky, including carving out the Wilderness Road and building the settlement station of Boonesboro.
  • The Louisisana Purchase

    President Thomas Jefferson buys the Louisiana Territory from France for $15 million. This doubles the size of the United States and provides a large area to the west of the country for expansion.

    People begin traveling in wagons on the Oregon trail. 200,000 people would take the over the 20 years.It started in Independence, Missouri and traveled a cleared trail that reached to Fort Hall, Idaho.
  • Indian Removal Act

    Congress passes a law to move Native Americans from the Southeast to the west of the Mississippi River. The Indian Removal Act was signed into law by President Andrew Jackson on May 28, 1830, authorizing the president to grant unsettled lands west of the Mississippi in exchange for Indian lands within existing state borders. A few tribes went peacefully, but many resisted the relocation policy.
  • Battle Of Alamo

    Mexican troops attack the Alamo Mission killing all but two Texans. This spurs the Texans on in the Texas Revolution. during Texas’ war for independence from Mexico, a group of Texan volunteer soldiers occupied the Alamo, a former Franciscan mission located near the present-day city of San Antonio.

    The Trail Of Tears was about Cherokees being forced to move to Oklahoma. Thousands has died. It was 2,200 miles of land and water routes.

    The United States officially claims Texas as a state, eventually leading to the Mexican-American War.

    After experiencing religious persecution, the Mormons move to Salt Lake City, Utah.Brigham Young became the new leader of the Mormons. He told his people that he had seen their new home in a dream. He said it was a wide, beautiful valley in the West. They told Brigham Young about a great salt lake in a wide valley on the western side of the Rocky Mountains.
