Built by Hertfordshire Jonas Fosbrooke circa 1590, the bed measures ten by eleven feet and can sleep over 15 people at once. -
The first tollgate or "turnpike"
In Wadesmill, near Ware in Hertfordshire an Act was passed which allowed justices of Hertfordshire, Cambridgeshire and Huntingdonshire to levy tolls on road users. -
Ware Online is launched
A community website for the town of Ware. The first month saw 50 visitors. In July 2006, Ware Online received over 50,000 visitors.
