    in the winter of 1864 the Cheyenne retreated to Colorado's sand creek reserve when general S. R. Curtis U.S. army commander in the west. sent a telegram to colonel john Chivington that said "i want no peace until the Indians suffer more". Chivington and his men attacked the Cheyenne. they killed 150 Indians mostly women and children.

    The bozemen trail was a trail that ran though Sioux hunting grounds in the bighorn mountains. the chief red cloud unsuccessfully appealed to the govt to end white settlement on the trail. in December the warrior crazy horse ambushed captain William J. fetterman killing over 80 soldiers. little fights broke out along the trail until the govt closed the trail. in retuern the treaty of fort Laramie in which the sioux agree to live on a reservation along the Missouri river.

    the 7th calvery rounded up 350 starving NA and took them to a camp at wounded knee the next day soldiers demanded that the NA give up all their weapons. a shot was fired not clear from which side the. the army opened up with deadly cannon. which killed around 300 NA. ending the Indian war era.
