    Impressment of sailors was when Britain's Royal Navy seized American ships, which were trading with those who weren't Britain. The officers would inspect their ships, the crew, and would seize any sailors they chose to. Holding them and taking away all of the goods in these ships. This was one of the major reasons that lead up to the War of 1812 because it had been occurring for a significant period of time.

    Washington’s Proclamation of Neutrality
    President George Washington issued a Neutrality Proclamation. At the time Great Britain and France were at war with one another. The Neutrality Proclamation stated that the United States would stay neutral during this war, they weren't going to pick a side. Washington knew it was best to stay neutral because the country was too weak to go to war.

    USS Chesapeake was an American ship that was being shipped off with lots of cargo. Later made an appealing target for the crew onboard the HMS Leopard, which was a British vessel. The British demanded an inspection of the USS Chesapeake but James Barron refused this lead to the British kill three men and wounding eighteen. They took everything the ship had and even held hostage a handful of passengers.

    The Embargo Act was when America couldn't trade with either Britain or France because of their ships getting seized. This put a pause on their trade which led to America's economy collapsing.

    War hawks were those who were in favor of the war against Great Britain. They pressured president, James Madison to declare war against the British. War hawks tended to be those from southern and western states. They wanted war so that they could have more land.

They were of Britians side because Americans kept breaking all of the treaties they made with the Native Americans. The death of Tecumseh was significant because no of his wishes came true.

This convention was for the New England Federalists and they stated their complaints and concerns about the War of 1812. The New England Federalists were not in favor of this war, they were concerned about the political issues that were rising and how the government was getting stronger.

    Treaty of Ghent was signed by both British and American representatives stating that the War of 1812 was officially over. There was still fighting even after this treaty was signed. This also stated that the British would no longer claim any American territory.

    The Battle of New Orleans was lead by Andrew Jackson, the people had been fighting with gorilla tactics for about a week. The British were the first to make a move but ended up losing about 2,500 men. The Battle of New Orleans was a great victory to the Americans, it's often known as the greatest American land victory of all time.
