Britain was arming the natives, seizing ships, forcing American sailors to join their navy and had not left the Great Lakes. John Jay sent ships to England to try to get Britain to stop seizing our ships peacefully, but that did not work out. Republicans did not like the treaty. -

The day after Senate followed House of Representatives in voting to go to war. President signed declaration of war and the the war of 1812 began. -
Impressment of Sailors
The British would take American ships and force the men to work for the British. Forcing can also be called being pressed so that is why it is impressment. This was one of the main cause of the war. -
Tecumseh
General William Henry Harrison defeated him at the battle of Tippecanoe; became a British ally. -

At the battle of Thames, Britain and the Indians were defeated by Americans. Tecumseh was killed and the surviving Indians withdrew. -
Hartford Convention
A meeting that lasted 3 weeks took place in secret delegates from the Connecticut, Rhode Island, Vermont, and New Hampshire legislatures met to discuss and draft a protest against the war with Britain. -

This is the treaty that ended the war of 1812 -
Battle of New Orleans
A treaty was signed between Britain and the U.S that ended the war. This news spread very slowly though as Andrew Jackson led military, slaves, Indians and some pirates to fight against the British. This foiled British plans of invasion on American soil.
