Tecumseh
This individual was a Shawnee warrior and chief. He was a big part of the resistance made by indigenous people to American westward expansion. He organized the Native American confederacy in an attempt to unite his people in battle against the approaching white men. -
Warhawks
These individuals believed in promoting war and violence to solve conflicts, instead of other peaceful and maybe more logical options. A lot of them were young politicians who steered law-making to creating conflict. -
War of 1812 begins

Hartford Convention
This event was a gathering of federalist delegates who were in opposition to the war and President James Madison's policies. They proposed abolishing the 3/5 rule and restore political power balance. -
Treaty of Ghent
This treaty was the legal document ending the war of 1812. As a result, conquered territory was to be returned and a boundary was established between the U.S. and Canada. -
The Battle of New Orleans
This battle was the final one of the war of 1812, although it occurred after the signing of the Treaty of Ghent. Word had not traveled fast enough and Andrew Jackson (at this point, a general) won a great land victory for the Americas.
