Francis Scott Key born August 1, 1780, is best know for his writing of the Star Spangled Banner during the attack on Fort McHenry,in the War of 1812. The poem he wrote that night would later become our National Anthem. -
Treaty of Ghent
On December 24, 1814, the treaty to stop the war between the United States and the United Kingdom, was signed in Ghent which today is modern day Belgium. -
Battle of New Orleans
On January 8, 1815 the British Forces tried to take over New Orleans, but they where defeted by the U.S. Army. This attack ended up going against the Treaty of Ghent which was signed by both forces only about three weaks before hand. -
Andrew Jackson
Andrew Jackson born on March 15, 1767, He was the General who defeated the opposing sides on two occasions in the War of 1812, at the Battle of Horseshoe Bend and The Battle of New Orleans. He would later be elected as the 7th United States President in 1828.
