Walt Disney was born in Chicago, Illinois. He was born to Flora Call and Elias Disney. He was the last of three brothers with one younger sister (Crowther). -
Army
Walt Disney dropped out of school to join the army because all of his older brothers enlisted into the war. They rejected him for being underage -16- so he joined the Red Cross. He was 17 at the time he joined the Red Cross so he altered his birth certificate from 1901 to 1900 so he could join. He was then sent to France to drive ambulance, but the war was over. He was discharged after a year and he moved back to Kansas City to pursue a career as a newspaper artist (Lemesh). -
Married
Walter Disney married Lillian Bounds when he was 24. He hired her as an ink-paint artist. They got married in Idaho at Lewiston's Episcopal Church of the Nativity. Where Walt's parents did not attend and Lillian's father did not give her away (he had passed in 1916) as a result her uncle gave her away (Editors). -
Diane Disney Miller
Diane is the oldest of Walt's two daughters she is also the only biological daughter of Lillian and Walter. Diane had seven children, four sons and three daughters. She married in 1954 to Ron W. Miller (Kurtti). -
Sharon Mae Disney
Sharon Disney is the daughter of Walt and Lillian Disney. After Lillian had multiple miscarriages they decided to adopt. Sharon was the perfect addition to their small family. She later grew up to be a mother of three; she had two daughters and one son. She married twice. Her first husband was Robert Brown; together they had Victoria Brown. He died in 1967 and Sharon remarried to William S. Lund and they had Brad and Michelle together. Sharon died on Feb. 16, 1993 of lung cancer(Kurtti). -
Mother's death
Flora Call Disney was the mother of five. She married Elias Disney in 1888 when she was just twenty. They had four boys and one girl. Flora was an only child so it was natural for her to want a big family. When she died Walt took it very hard. He had a difficult time coming to terms with it (Crowther). -
Disneyland opened
Disneyland theme park opened in Anaheim California. Walt came up with the idea to create a theme park after visiting many with his two daughters. It has since been expanded from it original plan (Editors). -
Herbert Arthur Disney's death
Herbert is the oldest sibling of Walt Disney he is also the first to die. Herbert did not marry or have any kids. He died just five years before his baby brother Walt Disney (Editors). -
Died
Walt Disney died of lung cancer at St. Joseph medical center Burbank, California. He was cremated and his ashes remain at Forest Lawn Cemetery in Los Angeles, California. He just turned 65 years old (Crowther). -
Disney world opened
Walt Disney was not alive when disney world opened but his legacy lived on. Disney world was possible because of his brother and all of the people supporting him (Kurtti).
