    Walt Disney signs a contract with M. J. Winkler to produce a series of Alice Comedies. The year marks the start of The Walt Disney Company, first known as the Disney Brothers Cartoon Studio.

    A year later, in 1925, the brothers made a deposit on a Hyperion Avenue lot in the Silver Lake part of Los Angeles. Construction of the new studio began not long after the lot was purchased.

    In 1932, Disney productions' distribution is moved from Columbia Pictures to United Artists. The same year, Walt Disney wins an Academy Honorary Award for his creation of Mickey Mouse at the 5th Academy Awards. A piece from the "Silly Symphonies" series, "Flowers and Trees," won an Academy Award for Best Animated Short Film. It was also the first Technicolor cartoon. "Mickey's Revue" was released that same year as well.

It received a total of 13 nominations, and also won Best Film Editing, Best Original Music Score, Best Visual Effects and Best Original Song for "Chim-chim-chiree."
