Walt Disney and his family moved to Kansas City in 1911 and he went to Benton Grammar School. He attended Saturday courses at the Kansas City Art Institute as a child. He dropped out of school at 16 and tried to join the army but was to young.

He made ads for newspapers, magazines, and movie theaters.

His cartoons started to get recognized in the Kansas City area. He got his own studio and hired people. With high employee salaries and the studio profit, he didn’t have enough money and it went bankrupt.

Disney drew out his ideas for an amusement park where he envisioned families spending time together. He got his ideas for the theme park after visiting Fairyland in Oakland, California. The theme park was originally meant for a plot south of the Studio. The work began in 1965 near Orlando, Florida.

From an x-ray doctors found a huge tumor on Disney's left lung. Disney was a chain smoker. He ended up dying on December 15, 1966, ten days after his 65th birthday.

Walt Disney's visions of a theme park finally came to reality. In 1971 Walt Disney World opened in Florida. Unfortunately, he never got to see his vision come alive.
