4th amendment
No illegal or unreasonable searches and seizures. Warrant is needed as seen in picture. -
13th amendment
December 6, 1865 and officially made slavery illegal in all states. African Americans could no longer be held as slaves and were free to live their lives as people and not as property. -
2nd amendment
A well regulated Militia, being necessary to the security of a free State, the right of the people to keep and bear Arms, shall not be taken away. -
6th amendment
This amendment gives everyone the right to a speedy and public trial. The person is to be tried where the crime was committed. -
11th amendment
All the rights not listed in the Constitution belong to the people, not the government. In other words, the rights of the people are not limited to just the rights listed in the Constitution. -
1st amendment
The First Amendment provides that Congress make no law respecting an establishment of religion or prohibiting its free exercise. It protects freedom of speech, the press, assembly, and the right to petition. -
!5th amendment
The 15th amendment was ratified in February of 1870. This made it so no person could be denied the right to vote based off of race, color, or previous condition of servitude. -
19th amendment
Women are granted the right to vote. This took lots of protesting and agitation. -
24th amendment
Citizens in some states had to pay a fee to vote in a national election. This fee was called a poll tax. On January 23, 1964, the United States ratified the 24th Amendment to the Constitution, prohibiting any poll tax in elections for federal officials. This was mostly aimed at African American citizens. -
26th amendment
This amendment lowered the voting age from 21 to 18. Men getting drafted felt they should have a say in the people making these laws. It was only fair.
