1865- End of Civil War and 13th Amendment abolishes slavery
This is an important event because this gives black people more freedom and the freedom they deserved. -
1869- 15th Amendment gives minority males the right to vote
This event leads to increased voting rights because it gives more males(minority's) the opportunity to vote -
1896- Many southern states pass laws to take voting rights from African Americans
This leads to decreased voting rights since they aren't giving them to any African American people -
1898- Supreme Court rules that literacy tests are constitutional
This is important because it may limit a lot of things for many different races of people. That because majority of only White people are the ones who were taught in school -
1920- 19th Amendment grants the right for women to vote
This leads to increased voting rights because they are now allowing a different gender to vote (Women ) and that increases it by a lot -
1937- Supreme Court rules poll taxes are constitutional
This will lead to a decrease in voting because if they tax you for voting many people can't afford that -
1964- 24th Amendment outlaws poll taxes
