Vladek had a dream, that his dead grandfather told him not to worry and that he would come out of the prisoner of war camp on the day of Parshas Truma, which is a special week each year in Jewish tradition.

An order was issued that made all of the remaining Jews in Sosnowiec go live in a village called Srodula.

While staying with Vladeks sister Tosha, the ghetto was being evacuated, and Tosha decided to poison herself as well as the 3 children she was taking care of, including Richieu. She did this so that they wouldn't die in the concentration camps and Gass chambers.

Vladek arrived at Auschwitz.

Vladek begins working as a tinman in the spring.

Vladek goes to Birkenau for the first time to fix a roof in the summer. He uses this opportunity to talk to Anja who was in Birkenau at the time.

Vladek begins work at the shoe shop in Auschwitz. He fixed a boot for one Gestapo, who returned to give Vladek an entire sausage for his good work.

Vladek saved up a fortune of things like bread and cigarettes in order to give bribes so that Anja could be in a barrack near him. It was "the only time he was happy in Auschwitz."

Vladek does black work, which is very laborious work, almost like construction work.

Vladek leaves Auschwitz in January after about 10 months at Auschwitz. All of the prisoners were marched out as the Russians were approaching.

Brought to Gross-Rosen thousands of prisoners from all around being pulled back into Germany.

Vladek uses a blanket tied to animal hooks to survive above everyone else in a train cart filled with people, he was among about 25 people that survived of 200.

Vladek was brought to Dachau.

While in Dachau, Vladek got a hand infection but tried to make it worse so he could go to the infirmary, which was a so-called paradise.

Vladek left Dachau in the last minutes of the war, and all the prisoners were given a treasure box full of treats from the Swiss Red Cross.

Vladek diagnosed with typhus and diabetes by the shivek.

Vladek went from Poland to Sweden on a tiny airplane with about 10 other refugees.

Anja went to a Gypsy, who told her that Vladek was still alive and that he was coming. Vladek went all the way back to Sosnowiec, and reunited with Anja, to live "happy, happy ever after."

Anja kills herself, leaving no note.

Vladek died of congestive heart failure.
