King Louis XIV takes the throne at the age of 5. Dubbed the "Sun King" becasue he was constantly surrounded by people. In 1674 while visiting a schoolat Clemont, He threw a child in the Bastille for commenting on his bald head. The child spent 69 years in the Bastille. -
National Assembly takes the Tennis Court Oath.
The Tennis Court Oath was an pledge made by the members of the National Assembly after the King locked them out of an important meeting. The oath reaffirmed their commitment to the National Assembly. -
Declaration of the Rights of Man and of the Citizen
A document which contains the basic human liberties for the people of France. This was later used in following constitutions. -
King Louis XVI Execution
King Louis XVI is executed for crimes of high treason and crimes against the state. -

The directory whihc consisted of a five man committe ruled France for four years.The directory was a weak, inefficient, dishonest form of government for France.
