Professional Development
Professional development provided by District STEM team. Introduction to coding including Hour of Code, Sphero, and Lego Robotics. Overview of opportunities and information for PLC follow up session. -
PLC Planning Time
Grade level teams work to develop a simple plan to include coding as part of their instructional program this year. Could be very simple, focusing for example on the Hour of Code, or more complex incorporating resources available in the District such as Lego robotic kits. -
Student Implementation
Teachers implement coding in classrooms with their students. -
Evaluate Progress
Using Google Forms (surveys) for both students and teachers, PLCs reflect on implementation and identify next steps -
Explore External Connections
Leadership Team looks at opportunities to engage students in different ways such as extended day enrichment coding programs, business partnerships, and parent volunteers. ID next steps for this school year. Share with Site Council. -
PLC Follow Up
Working in PLCs, evaluate progress to date and plan for next steps for Spring -
