Emmit Till incident
Emmit Till was a young boy from Chicago who was visiting relatives who lived down south. Till was bet by some of his friends to go say something to a white women, and later on that night Till was kidnapped and beaten brutally and killed. This was important to African Americans because it was like a wake up call of how bad racism still was. -

President Eisenhower sends in troops to enforce to desegregate schools
Racism and segregation was so serious at this time that the president had to send in miltary troops to help African American children into school. Afrcican Americans realized that no on could help them , not even the military...they had to stand up for themselves. -
Mack Charles Parker Lynching
A black man who was jailed down south for not a reason more than being black was released, than was beaten , burned and lynched by a group of hating whites. African American were outraged. -
Freedom Riders attacked by whites who didn't want intergration on buses
The freedom riders were a group of college kids who rode to the most racists parts of the south , on one of the rides they were pulled of the buses and attacked by whites African Americans took it on the chin and kept sending more freedom riders. -
William lewis moore killed
william lewis was doing a one man march and was killed African Americans felt like there was little they could do. -

Police sent firetrucks and k-9 police dogs to attack African Americans in the streets African Americans didnt have anyone on their side not even the law. -

Megar Ever was a civil rights activist, but during his stay in jacksonville mississippi he was murderd. He was an important person to the civilk rights movement , so this put them in a deep depression. -
4 church girls killed by church bombing.
4 church girls fresh out of sunday school went to the basement of the church to get thier robes , then an explosin went off. The whole town was filled with sorrow except the whites. -

3 civil rights workers were doing ther part for the movement when abducted by klu klux klan members. African Americans were even more motivated to continue with the civil rights movement. -

Jimmie Lee jackson was driving on a freeway when stopped and haraased by a white state trooper then was killed by that same officer. -

Dr. Martin Luther King was leaving his motel room when all of a sudden a gun shot went off and MLK died on the scene
