  • US Neutrality Act

  • The war begins

    Germany attacks Poland and World War II begins. The United States does not enter yet.
  • FDR speaks of 4 Freedoms

    "four freedoms"- freedom of speech, freedom of worship, freedom from want, freedom from fear. These freedoms were threatened by Nazi and Japan's militarism. Roosevelt thought that aiding Britain was the best way to avoid conflict.
  • Lend-Lease Act

    Act authorized Roosevelt to "sell, transfer to, exchange, lease, lend, or otherwise dispose of , to any such government any defense article."
  • Hilter ordered attack on American ships

    More than 100 sailor deaths.
  • Japan attacks Pearl Harbor

    After this, America declares war on Japan and enters the war
  • Government set up WPB

    War Production Board- America mobilizes for war.
  • Neutrality Act of 1939

    Roosevelt felt confined by limitations of the past Neutrality Acts. This Act included cash-and-carry provisions.
