    -its primary focused on womens suffrage is the right of women to vote in elections
    -it gave stanton and anthony a means for expressing their veins about the issues being disputed when it would have been difficult for them to make their voices heard
    -it helped them strengthen their movement and prepare the way for an organization to represent womens rights
