Fugitive Slave Act
The Fugitive Slave Act was published september 18, 1850. This was a pair of laws that allowed to capture slaves and return runaway slaves. -

States secede from union
The southern states started to secede from the union from 1860 to 1865. This started the Civil war from the Union and the Confederate. -
Emancipation proclamation
The emancipation proclamation was made in january 1, 1863. The proclamation declared ¨that all persons held as slaves¨ within the rebellious states ¨are, and henceforward shall be free¨. This did not end slavery. -
President Johnson's plan for reconstruction
President Johnson's plan for reconstruction started right after the war in 1865. There were sharecropping with former ¨free¨ slaves to try and increase the economy. -
Civil war ends
The civil war ended april 9, 1865. The south was completely destroyed and the north was poor from the war. -
Lincoln's assassination
Lincoln was assassinated april 14, 1865. John Wilkes Booth killed Lincoln because he thought he was gonna destroy the south. -
13th amendment
The 13 amendment was ratified december 6, 1865. This abolished slavery in the United States.
