    By 1900, the British Empire had expanded over five continents, With expansion came the need for new markets and such. The amount of land they owned really upset Germany.

    The Dreadnought was an powerful battleship used by the British in hopes to be better on the water than Germany.

    Triple Entente
    Russia, France, and Britain joined together for military support. They fought the Triple Alliance which was Germany, Austria-Hungary, and Italy. After they fought for four years they eventually brought the U.S in to it.

    Serbia realizes that they don't want to be ruled by the Austria-Hungarian Empire.They wanted to become there own country because they could do it on their own better. Serbians were the ones who murdered the Archduke which obviously resulted in war. What kept the war relevant was nationalism and the fact that they thought their country was superior.

    The Assassination Of Archduke Franz Ferdinand And His Wife, Sophia
    Gavrilo Princip announced he was going to murder the Archduke in Mach of 1914 when he first arrived in Bosnia. All of the Archduke's men including himself knew about the planned assignation but figured it wouldn't actually happen. On the day of the murders a bomb was thrown at the Archduke's car but bounced off but did wound his men. Later that day they went to the hospital to check on the wounded men and that is when Princip was standing and fired at both the Archduke and his wife.

    The Black Check was an unconditional pledge and support to whatever Hungary-Austria chooses to do with the conflict with Serbia. Germany's support made the conflict in the Balkans not localized anymore.

    WW1 all began after Archduke Franz Ferdinard was murdered. Austria first declared war on Serbia then Germany declared war against Russia and France. On August 4th, 1914 Great Britain declared war on Germany.

    A German submarine nailed the Lusitania without warning. The massive ship sank within 20 minutes killing over 1,200 people.

    Zimmerman Telegram
    The Zimmerman Telegram was a secret message sent from a German Secretary to Mexico proposing a Mexico-Germany. It was published on the front pages of newspapers across America, it was intercepted and deciphered. This made the U.S very upset and fired them up to stand up and attack.

    After the sinking of the Lusitania strict precautions were put of submarines. When Germany resumed their unlawful acts it was a huge deal because it was the turning point for U.S to join the war.

    In April President Wilson went before congress to request declaration against Germany. Not till December did the declaration actually occur. The U.S joining the war threw away all of Germany's chances of winning the war.

    There were over 18 million people dead and over 23 million wounded. 2 million died of disease and 6 million went missing, presumed dead. As an outcome a lot of new nations were formed resulting in Austria, Hungary, Czechoslovakia, and Yugoslavia. Many Americans came to regret participating in the war even before it ended.

    A treaty to help prevent another war from happening again, unfortunately it ended up provoking another one. England, France, and the U.S all met and did not invite Germany. They all wanted different things but eventually ended up settling after six months. Germany felt that the treaty asked to much of them and never liked it, they secretly did everything they could to get out of it. They lost a lot of land because of it and were very unhappy and knew they got the short end of the stick.

    A plan that Charles G. Dawes thought of to help solve money problems in all three countries. His idea was that the U.S lends Germany money, Germany builds the economy and uses the increased tax to pay back France, France pays back its war loans and imports American goods, lastly, America pays off its debts using its own moneys.

    This was an extension off of the Dawes plan that was put into motion four years after the Dawes plan. It was a better deal and plan for Germany overall. It reduced the money Germany and extended their time to pay it.

    The stock market crashing is what overall started the Great Depression. Stockholders lost more than $40 billion dollars when the stock market crashed. Nine thousand banks failed shortly after. A lot of businesses had to shut down because they didn't have the money to stay open, which led to a lot of people lost their jobs.

    President Paul von Hindenburg had appointed Hitler as Chancellor on January 30th 1933. He got 43.9% of the votes because of the Nazi's. He established an absolute dictatorship right when he got into office.
