    For the first time, women can vote.

    Charles Lindbergh’s Flight
    Lindbergh takes off- the flight lasts 33.5 hours. It's the first time someone flew non-stop from New York to Paris.

    This event helps spark a civil rights movement.
  • The first form of Internet is Proposed

    The first idea of the internet is proposed, addressing the military concern that if telephone lines are targeted by the enemy, communication will be down.
  • The Cuban Missile Crisis

    Happened in October. Missiles are installed in Cuba, 90 miles off the coast of Florida. A tense month between the U.S and the Soviets begins. In the end, the Cuban missiles are disarmed when the U.S promises not to invade Cuba, and removes missiles from Turkey.

    JFK is assassinated in Texas, while traveling in an open car with his wife, the Texas governor and his wife.

    The Resolution is passed in Congress, essentially putting us in the Vietnam War.

    The U.S becomes the first country on earth to land on the moon. The moon surface is walked.

    Several men are caught trying to bug the Democratic National Committee building. This marks the beginning of the Watergate Scandal (publicity).

    Nixon announces his resignation. The next day, he officially leaves, becoming the first U.S president to resign.

    The government of East Berlin announces that, at midnight, it will now allow people to enter and exit the East. People flock to the wall and either cross it, or start trying to tear it down.

    The idea of internet shifts from begin a way of sending files to different locations, and to the idea that the internet can be a "web" that anyone can get information from.
