Now that the war had been fought and our Declaration of Independence signed, It was time to decide what our government would be. And so, our constitution was written on September 17 1787.
  • Start of Factories in America

Factories really changed the United States. Prior to their coming to America, most industry was done through farming, or specific trades from specific people. They were also played a big part in the industrial revolution. Factories enable much growth such as interchangeable parts, and other industrial things that changed our culture for the better. (and I don't have a specific day for the start, and I don't know how to make it different. Sorry! haha. It just started in the 1790's)
  • The Lewis and Clark expedition

When Thomas Jefferson made the Louisiana purchase, it doubled the territory of the United States. He needed someone to explore it for him and to find a way to the other coast. So he sent Lewis and Clark and they explored a waterway to the west with their Indian guide.

It included the inventions of the cotton gin, industrial parts, the steam engine, steam boats, the railroad, canals, the telegraph and much more. These inventions and this revolution of change for the better opened possibilities for new birth in America.
  • The Missouri Compromise

The Missouri Compromise was an effort for balance the continuous struggle was to have equal say in congress for slave and free states. With every new state admission came the argument over slavery. Missouri was no exception, and arguments were getting heated. So we made a comprise. Maine would enter our Union as a free state and Missouri could enter as a slave state. However, and any future state above the line 36* 30 would be free. But this only kept the peace for a short time.
  • Manifest Destiny

Manifest Destiny was the idea that God had intended America for us, and that westward expansion was our destiny. This phrase first originated form John O'Sulivan in an article that he wrote that was published in the July-August 1845 United States and Democratic Review. little did he know that it would literally change the world!
  • Bleeding Kansas

Bleeding Kansas happened in the years 1855-1861 when Kansas territory was going to join the Union. It would be based on popular sovereignty, meaning that the state would become free or slave based on the vote of the people. Kansas became violent very quickly. adamant slave owners and abolitionists flocked to Kansas like ants to forgotten food. The conflicts became so great that violence erupted everywhere around Kansas. Blood was shed, and people were killed.
  • The Civil War.

The Civil War was fought over many things, but the two main ones were slavery and representation in Congress. It was the most bloody battle for America in our history because it was fellow American against fellow American, and brother against brother. It tore our country apart as we fought for what we believed was right. The North fighting for freedom of slaves, and the South fighting for the freedom to keep what they believed to be their property. Eventually the North did win.
  • Reconstruction

After the Civil war, we had much that needed to b mended. It was time for the South to come home, and it was time for thee slaves to feel free. It was time for the white northerner to be at peace with the white southerner. It was time for peace. But peace takes work. and we needed to find ways to let the south back in and to help the blacks to begin anew in a totally different and new world. That is what this era was about. And it lasted from 1865-1877 respectively.
  • Assassination of President Abraham Lincoln

after Abraham Lincoln was re-elected and helped to win the war, many southerners felt that if it hadn't been for him, they could have won. one southerner in particular felt this way, sadly. His name was John Wilkes Booth, and he was prepared to take action. On April 15 while at the theater, Abraham Lincoln was shot by him in the back of the head. Our nation had lost a great hero and father. I consider him to be one of the greats in our world because he truly stood for what he knew to be true.
