The battle of Lexington and Concord begins the war between Great Britain and its American colonies. -
Declaration of Independence
The Continental Congress signed the Declaration of Independence. -
Articles of Confederation
The first United States Constitution. -
End of Revolutionary War
The war ended with the signing of the Treaty of Paris. -
Shay's Rebellion
Angry over high taxes and penalties, farmers strike a violent protest. This event helped point out some of the weaknesses in the Articles of Confederation. -
US Constitution
During the constitutional convention, the Articles of Confederation were thrown out and the US Constitution was drafted and later ratified. -
