Proclamation of 1763
This proclamation did not allow colonists to settle west of the Appalachian Mountains. The British government feared the conflict between colonists and Native Americans would lead to another war. They also could not afford to pay British troops to defend the western lands. Colonists enraged by this proclamation because they felt they had won the right to settle in the Ohio River Valley after winning the French and Indian War. -

Stamp/Quartering Act
The Stamp Act was a law that required all legal and commercial documents to carry an official stamp. People were upset about having to pay taxes. It was a new kind of tax for the colonies. The Quartering Act is when the British soldiers take over the houses and provide them with supplies. -
Townshend Acts
The Townshend Acts were taxes on paint, glass, lead, tea, and other goods. It suspended New York's assembly to provide housing for the troops. It also created the Boston Massacre. -
Boston Tea Party/Tea Act
The Boston Tea Party was on December 16, 1773. These men threw the tea over board. The Tea Act was part of the Boston Tea Party. Colonist were very upset and angry about the what happened to the Boston Tea Party and the tea. -
Intolerable Acts
The Intolerable Acts would close the port of Boston. Colonists were angry and uspet that they had to pay money for the damaged tea. The Intolerable Acts were being passed after the Boston Tea Party. -

Lexington and Concord were the battles of the Revolutionary War. This event divided communities, families, and friends. This meant that the war was on. -
Olive Branch Petition
Olive Branch Petition was a document that asked the king to restore harmony. It was also drafted by the moderates in congress.
The colonists agreed to this petition. -
Declaration of Independence
The Declaration of Independence was when the colonies declared independence from Britain. It was also a document written in 1776. The people who signed it, they knew they were going to get in trouble.
