Barons forced King to sign Magna Carta.
Included laws like trial by jury, and due process. Protection for your life, liberty and property. -
The Petition of Right
Until the king signed the petion he wouldnt be getting money so he agreed. Most important of the laws in the petition was that the king couldnt imprison or punish someone without the lawful judgement of his peers. -
English bill of rights
This document was meant to keep the govt power in check. it prohibited a standing army in peacetime and required that elections be free. -
Albany plan of union
In Benjamin Franklins plan it was planned that 13 delegates from the colonies would have the power to raise an army, declare war or peace and regulate trades. -
The Declaration of Independence
The document announces Americas independence. It speaks of attrocities performed by the king of england. -
The Articles of Confederation
This document allowed all states to keep there soverignty but they could come together in defense of common threat. -
The Virginia plan
IT incorporated judicial executive and legislative parts of govt. it also gave a large amount of power to the govt. -
New jersey Plan
This plan called for more than one person to be federal executive and would limit there powers over taxation. -
The Conneticutt promise
This promised that congress should be composed of two houses. In the senate states are represented equally and in the house it would be based on state population. -
