Magna Carta
The magna carta was a document that was forced onto the King of England in an attempt to limit his powers. -
Virginia House of Burgesses
The first legislative house in the early English colonies in a church in Jamestown. They met once a year to make laws that could be vetoed by the governor or the directors of the Virginia Company. -
Mayflower Compact
The first official governing document of the Plymouth Colony. It was signed aboard the ship. -
English Bill of Rights
The bill granted people basic human rights for freedom of speech and the right to bear arms for defense. The bill also granted people the right to a democratic process, which would limit the Monarch rule. -

The final Colonial War nicknamed the "seven years war". Contries fighting included England and Austria. -
Stamp Act
A tax on all papers the American colonists used such as, stamps, newspapers, documents, etc. -
Boston Tea Party
Members of the Sons of Liberty dressed as indians and went aboard an English ship containing boxes of tea and dumped them into the boston harbor. -
The Declaration of Independance
The thirteen colonies declared their independance from England and formed a new nation. -
First Continetal Congress
A convention of delegates from twelve colonies called in by the British Parliment in regards to the Boston Tea Party. -
Lexington and Concord
The battles fought here were the starting point of the American Revolutionary War. British soldiers were told to sneak in and retrive important military supplies. The miltia were notified weeks earlier that they might be at risk so they had moved them to a different location. -
Second Continetal Congress
Convention held in Pittsburg with delegates from all thirteen colonies attending. They discussed managing war effort, making armies and directing stregeties. -
Articles of Confederation
This was the thriteen colonies first constitution. -
Peace Treaty with Great Britain
This marked the end of the American Revolution. -
Shay's Rebellion
This was a series of protests by American farmers against the state and local enforcement of tax collectors. -
Constitutional Convention
Convention where the US Constitution was written. -
Virginia Plan
Traced the outlines of what would soon become the U.S. Constituion. -
Conneticut Compromise
This was a compromise to settle the disputes between the states. -
New Jersey Plan
Proposed to keep the one vote per state representation. -
3/5 Compromise
An agreement between Northern and Southern states that only 3/5 of the slave populationshould be taxed and represented in Congress. -
The Bill of Rights
Bill consisting of rights of the people. It was made to protect the rights from being infringed upon. -
Rhode Island Ratification
Rhode Island is ratified from the constituion. -
Commerce/Slave Trade Compromise
Slavery was banned when the Northern states began feeling concerned that the economy was relying to much on the slaves.
