    NAFTA (North Atlantic Free Trade Agreement
    NAFTA was a signed agreement between Canada, the US, and Mexico that immediately removed most tariffs between the countries. It also pushes for removing future barriers between the countries. Although signed in 1992, the agreement only took effect starting January 1, 1994. Source

    World Trade Center attacks
    Terrorist group Al-Qaeda hijacked four commercial planes and targeted them against the US. Two hit the World Trade Center, the third plane hit the Pentagon, and the final plane crashed into a field after a fight between the crew and the terrorists. Almost 3000 people were killed, and this led to the creation of the TSA and The Department of Homeland Security.

    This treaty continued the START 1 treaty and has the terms to limit nuclear prolifieration between the US and Russia. Those limits are as follows:
    * 700 deployed ICBMs, SLBMs, and heavy bombers equipped for nuclear armaments;
    * 1,550 nuclear warheads on deployed ICBMs, deployed SLBMs, and deployed heavy bombers equipped for nuclear armaments
    * 800 deployed and non-deployed ICBM launchers, SLBM launchers, and heavy bombers equipped for nuclear armaments.

  • South Sudan independence

    South Sudan independence
    The United States formally recognized the Republic of South Sudan as a sovereign and independent state on July 9, 2011. The USA is also the leading international donor to South Sudan, providing lifesaving humanitarian assistance such as food, nutrition, protection, clean water, and sanitation. The US provides $1 billion annually in humanitarian and development assistance and peacekeeping support to South Sudan.

  • Operation Observant Compass

    Operation Observant Compass
    In an attempt to combat the LRA (Lord's Resistance Army), the US deployed troops to Uganda to stop them and find and capture their leader, Joseph Kony. In joint with South Sudan, Uganda, the Central African Republic, and the Democratic Republic of Congo, the US deployed about 100 service members to the task. We also provided humanitarian relief. On 24 March 2017, we retracted troops without having found Kony.

    • On March 20, 2020, the United States made an agreement with Canada and Mexico to suspend “non-essential” travel.
