Magna Carta
When the rebels of England sought out to take over England from its Tyranical rule, a Civil War broke lose. When King John was confronted by the rebels, he signed the Magna Carta. The Magna Carta made it so that the King would not have all of the power and the common man would get a better say into the dealings of the government. -
Mayflower Compact
Even though the Pilgrims landed far from where they intended to land, they wrote this document saying that the Kings law and rulings still apply to this new dominion and they will follow the King's laws. -
The Petition of Right
The Petition limited the King's power in that he could not impose taxes without Parliament approving, imprison people without due cause and process, and restrict the use of matrial law -
English Bill of Rights
Limits the power of the crown even more and allows for more power into the Parliament. Also allows freedom of speech in the Parliament. -
Albany Plan of Union
The Albany Plan was made in order to unite the British Colonies whenever a time of war presented itself and the colonies were needed in this fight. -
Stamp Act
This act made by the British Parliament enacted that all printed goods must be printed on stamped paper that is more expensive (Tax essentially). Made the colonists furious -

The first gathering of the Colonies and they met to protest against the new tax policies that England has imposed into the colonies. The Stamp Act was passed causing their frustration and protesting. -

The Sons of Liberty threw the entire supply of tea sent by England due to their boycott on the tea due to the crazy taxes on the tea without the colonists say -
Intolerable Acts
A name for the number of laws that England imposed after the Boston Tea Party. It stripped Massachussets from its governing power, The colonists viewed this as a way of taking away their rights. -
First Continental Congress
The 12 colonies (Not Georgia) met to discuss the Intolerable Acts. They discussed boycotting certain goods and trying the hurt Engalnd economically -

Declaration of Rights and Grievances
Declared that taxes imposed on the colonist without representation was against the constitution and therefore was deemed unconstitutional -
Declaration of Independence
When the 13 colonies declared their independence from England and stated that they are their own governmental entity now.
