The Revolutionary War was fought between America and England. The Americans were fighting for their freedom. It was very unlikly that a new country just starting out would defeat the strongest army in the world at the time. But the Americans wanted their freedom and were able to over come the British to claim their freedom. -

When the Decleration was signed it gave us freedom from England. -

Lewis and Clark Journey
Lewis and Clark set out in the Summer of 1803 by winter, they reached St. Louis. They spent the winter they then left St. Louis in May 1804. They reached the Pacific Coast in November 1805 and then returend home.

Nat Turner's Slave Rebellion
Nat Turner and 70 other people killed 55 white men, women and, children. Turner and most of his men were captured and executed. Rand Mcnally P. 376 -

The Texas Revolution began in November 1833 when Mexacans tried to take a cannon but failed. In December of 1836 Texas raised the american flag.

The Donner Party
The Party set out of Springfield, Illinois in the Spring of 1846. On the Journey a small griup broke off and went on a route that was supposed to be shorter. It wasn't the Party got stranded on the trail and had to turn to cannibalism. When they were found and rescued the trail was renamed the Donner Trail.

James Marshall found a piece of gold on January 24 1848. His discovery spread fast and soon thousands of people were coming to California t search for Gold. The Gold Rush did not even last 10 years whne it ended in 1855.

Abraham Lincoln's Assasination took plae on good friday. When John Wilkes Booth Snuck to Abrahams balcony and shot him in the head. -
Bleeding Kansas
After Kansas was elected to be a slave state. Anti-slavery americans including John Brown attaked some neigbors. A mob of pro-slavery americans looted the town of Lawerence. Rand Mcnally P.487 -

Also known as black tuesday, the Stock Market Crashed in late October in 1929. The Crash started a 10 year great depression. Most people with a signifigant amount of stock when the crash happened was then in debt for alot of their life. -

At first Superman was a villan so the comic did not sell. Then the creators of Superman changed him to the right side of the law but they were still turned down. Then in 1935 D.C. comics decied to give Superman a chance. -

On September 1st Hitler started World War II by attaking Poland. The United States then got involed when Japan attaked Pearl Harbor in 1941. The war then ended when Japan surrened in 1945. -
Pearl Harbor
On this date the Pearl Harbor naval base in Hawaii was attacted by the Japanese army. The Japanese attacted the fleet of warships to prevent them from causing problems in the war. This event lead to the United States joining World War Two. -
The Dropping of the atomic bomb on Hiroshima
The United States became the first and only country to ever use atomic weaponry during a war. Dropping the bomb caused Japan to surrender and ended the war. -

The Explosion of the Challenger Space Shuttle
The Challenger exploded only 73 seconds into its flight. All seven of its crew were killed in the disater. The Shuttle had a malfunction allowing hot gas to ignite to cause the explosion. -
