    On December 1, 1955, Ms. Rosa Parks chose to sit at the front of the bus in "white seating." She was arrested for her actions. Many other similar demonstrations or "sit-ins" happened around this time. The end result was freedom from most segregation.

    The Soviet Union completed their own nuclear powered submarine in 1960. Rushed through the testing process because of the arms race with America, much was cut short, and this ship was not totally sea worthy when it was commissioned on April 30, 1961. Several incidents occurred on this vessel that resulted in loss of lives.
