Pendleton Act Passed
The Pendleton Civil Service Reform Act was passed. This inforced that government jobs be awarded by merit. Competitive exams were created. -
Dorman Bridgeman Eaton
He helped drafted the Pendleton Civil Service Act. He was the chairmen in 1883. -
Meret System Expanded
The meret system was expanded to sections of state administration that had federal grants. -
The Hatch Act
Civil servents are not allowed to be in political activities while performing their duties. -
Civil Sercive Reform Act
This was in responce to the Watergate scandal. The Act abolished the U.S. Civil Service Commission and its functions now belonged to 3 agencies: OPM, MSPB, and FLRA.
